KING'S SACRIFICE
KING'S SACRIFICE is my fiction film.
Inspiration: My father died in December 2013. Two weeks after the funeral of my father, I started to work on a story idea for this film. The first theme that came to my mind was the relationship between father and child. My father was loving yet severe, and he had high expectation of his children. After having grown up, I slowly came to realize that all my father ever really wanted was the best for me. No matter where I go, what I do, and what challenges I face in life, my father’s love gives me the strength needed to keep moving forward. This film is a dedication to my father and to all loving parents.

"In the Heart of the Heart of the Country"
April 12, 2012
4191 Manchester, St. Louis
This exhibit—curated by Lauren Adams, Richard Krueger, and Monika Weiss—features works by MFA students in the Sam Fox School’s Graduate School of Art. The title taken from a short story by William H. Gass, the David May Distinguished University Professor Emeritus in the Humanities at Washington University. The exhibit is a part of the greater Inland Symposium, hosted by Washington University’s Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts, which investigates the Midwest’s role in shaping regional, national and global contemporary art and visual culture.
The art exhibit is merely one example of the doubling of either vacant spaces, available commercial property, or current operating businesses and offices as art galleries, as well. Space Architecture, Atomic Cowboy, HandleBar, Commerce Bank… the list goes on.

"Drift"
June 25-August 19, 2011
Saint Louis Artists' Guild,
2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton, MO 63105-3008
This unique all media exhibition is co-presented by Art Saint Louis and the St. Louis Artists' Guild and will be presented as one exhibit at our two locations. Our aim is to use the show as an opportunity to focus on the geography of our two organizations and the vast community that we serve.
Drift looks at our movement between East and West and the relationship to nature and the world in which we inhabit. It also focuses on how people are affected by time, space and movement. We are looking for works that highlight these ideas and communicate a profound relationship with these concepts. Many questions can be asked that relate to the idea of Drift: How do you relate to your environment? How does travel affect your daily experience? Do you notice the change of the seasons? How does environmental change impact your existence? Does time fly? What is your relationship with time?
This exhibit will also have related programming that references themes of Urban Drifting, Drift-Walks, the Situationists and Dérive. Programming is tbd, but might include a Guided Drift-Walk resulting in artworks created from that experience, a workshop or panel discussion, and possibly an all media plein air art event that would focus on urban & suburban places, such as the East and West St. Louis locations of ASL & SLAG.
Juror: Dr. Ivy Cooper, Professor of Art History at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Cooper's specialties are contemporary art and art theory, public sculpture, Minimalism, and American art. She writes critical art reviews for numerous publications, including ArtForum, Art in America, Art Papers, Sculpture Magazine and the St. Louis Beacon. From 1997–2006, she was the art critic for the Riverfront Times. Ivy received a Ph.D in Art and Architectural History from the University of Pittsburgh.

"Testerday"
Solo Exhibition
5th on 6th Gallery, 439 N. 6th Ave., Tucson, Arizona
Opening reception: 6:00 - 9:00pm, Saturday, June 4, 2011
After growing up in Hanoi, Vietnam, Hoa Le has moved several times in her life. Her major move was from Ho Chi Minh City to Tucson, Arizona. The stress of moving and learning to adapt to a new life has sometimes been challenging. Testerday belongs to a series of Hoa Le’s abstract paintings and installations reflecting her exploration of the merge of (and tension between) Eastern and Western cultures and her intermingled two lives. It also manifests a range of felt energies experienced in her move.

Solar Culture Gallery, 31 E. Toole Ave., Tucson, Arizona
Opening reception: 6:00 - 9:00pm, Saturday, June 4, 2011

Media spanned the gamut: We saw everything from paintings to paper art, photographs to performance.

"Then, Now, and To Be"
October 29 - November 19, 2010, Union Gallery, Tucson, Arizona
A tough economical situation makes it harder on students to stay committed
to art and can limit opportunities and expenditures. We are a group of students
committed to art. “THEN, NOW, AND TO BE” is a collection of Contemporary Fine
Arts built from traditions from yesterday, those for today, and the preparing
for th...e paths of tomorrow. We are all different ages, have different
techniques, styles and backgrounds but have the common dream of becoming
professional and authentic artists. No matter our gender, our age, our
background, we are all being influenced by one another. This exhibition will
show a diverse group of people and how we work together, inspiring each other
here at the University of Arizona.
"Water"
May 31 – June 16, 2010, Lionel Rombach gallery, Tucson, Arizona
Water is an exhibition of work by
Hoa Le reflecting on her youth and thescarcity of this natural resource during
her upbringing in a turbulent, war torn Vietnam.
Le’s process of creation not only addresses her greatest childhood fears, drought and the effects of life without the vital compound, but also its physical characteristics. She references water’s fluidity by diluting her medium and pouring pigment directly onto her canvases, actively creating colorful metaphors. This technique is used in combination with more traditional brush-work throughout Le’s works.Water becomes an oasis for reflection, meditation, and appreciation of water in our dry desert landscape.

Interesting use of paint – it mixed yet doesn’t mix, and doesn’t get muddy. It also reflects the overall concept quite nicely.
